EcoTap

EcoTap connects McGill students, campus residences, and sustainability initiatives towards a common goal: eliminating single-use plastic waste through accessible refill solutions.

EcoTap is a sustainability project under ENACTUS that addresses the growing problem of single-use plastic waste from laundry detergent bottles in student housing. Hundreds of detergent bottles are discarded annually in McGill residences, with students lacking accessible refill alternatives. The project provides a convenient and affordable solution by designing refill stations that allow students to reuse their containers instead of purchasing new bottles.

By reducing waste and creating a refill culture, EcoTap demonstrates how meaningful climate action can start in everyday student life. The initiative aims to build a scalable model across universities, with short-term goals focused on prototyping and testing refill stations, medium-term plans to expand across McGill residences and partner with eco-friendly suppliers, and long-term ambitions to scale the model to other campuses while contributing to lasting cultural change around sustainability.
